3D sketching is a new form of digital art. But it is limited to only a small group of professional artists due to the expensive hardware requirements. CityU developed a mobile App to make this new digital art form more accessible to the general public.

Innovation
  • By utilizing AR techniques, people can freely draw 3D strokes with their smartphones, making the drawing exist in the real world.
  • Users can use their smartphone as a brush to draw directly in the real world. They can also use the touch screen on the smartphone to draw from a distance.
  • Users can use three assistant tools, 'point, line, stroke' to help the user draw 3D strokes in an exact position of the real world accurately and easily. It also enables large-scale 3D sketching.
