Open Lab is a pioneering initiative aiming to further drive the sustainable development of the textile and fashion industry. With a 20,000-square-foot physical space and a technological database housing over 90 sustainable projects, the lab embodies a mission to create a dynamic hub for the industry's entire value chain.

Innovation
  • Open Lab develops agile solutions for the textile, clothing and fashion industry to address climate change by showcasing innovative solutions, providing a collaborative platform for industry-wide partnerships and contributing to problem-solving and resource optimisation.
  • The physical Open Lab houses the Pilot Plant, a mini textiles recycling line for industrial-scale demonstrations and trials of technologies, and the Fashion Future Lab, a modular research space for early-stage solutions.
Key impact
  • The Open Lab has established partnershp with stakeholders from multiple industries. These include manufacturers, brands, service providers and organisations that use textile and soft materials. By bridging the gap between the research lab and industry, Open Lab transforms lab-scale outcomes into useful industrial-scale applications.
  • Open Lab is dedicated to nurturing young innovators and startups. Through its upcoming STEM-related programs including Open Lab Global Challenge, participants can work closely with scientists and engineers on meaningful textile related sustainability technology.
