Problem addressed

Traditional method in colour management of fabric is gauged by sight, which is often subjective and thus lead to inaccuracy. The ICM system provides reliable measurement and precise checking to colour.

Innovation
  • Introduction of a next level of spectral colour measurement system to analysis varieties of fabrics with complex colour and pattern combinations
  • Development of colour separation and extraction techniques for printing and yarn-dyed fabrics
  • Inclusion of cloud technology-based data for communication among users and high-fidelity fabric appearance reproduction on output devices
Key impact
  • Offering an objective colour assessment in the colour supply chain between retailers, suppliers and buyers
  • Facilitating an accurate colour measurement in textile and garment production
Award
  • Silver Award in the 1st Asia Exhibition of Inventions Hong Kong (2018)
  • Gold Medal in the 41st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (2013)
Application
  • Colour assessment in textile, garment, and fashion industry
  • With improvement and upgrading of the existing system, its usage of colour quality control can also be extended to industries of plastic, home textile, cosmetics and electronic products.
