Mixi is an AI-based fine-grained fashion attribute and colour recognition tool that can be used for both online shopping platforms and bricks and mortar stores. Mixi allows customers to easily find fashion items that possess their preferred fashion attributes and colours.

Problem addressed

Current online shopping websites fail to offer precise or fine-grained fashion attribute and colour searching or filters. The lack of professional fashion knowledges lead to inaccurate labelling and retrieving result, and for colours, the average number of colour category of mainstream online shopping websites is less than 20. The maximum number is no more than 100 which is far below than the actual number of colour existing on apparel items.

  • A precise, customisable and flexible fashion attribute and colour search tool that can accurately distinguish more than 250 fashion attributes and more than 2,300 colours. It can identify and unify similar colours that are difficult to distinguish with the naked eye.
  • Support customisation by working with company's own database and accept images of apparel, apparel on model or image with background, accessories, and street photos.

AiDLab is the first research platform that focuses on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with design. It was jointly established by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the Royal College of Art (RCA) in the UK, and is funded by the HKSAR Government under the InnoHK Research Clusters.
