Problem addressed

While polyethylene (PE) can support passive cooling, its weakness, flammability and lack of durability make it unsuitable for everyday textiles. Polyester (PET), by contrast, is strong and widely used in garments but does not naturally possess the optical properties required for passive cooling.

Innovation
  • These fibres reflect solar ultraviolet and visible light, enhancing the cooling effect and achieving a 3.7°C temperature reduction under sunlight compared to conventional PET fabrics.

  • This technology can significantly reduce heat stress for individuals working outdoors or participating in intense sports.
  • The process is simple to scale up and offers a low-cost solution for mass production.
