ASTRI delivers an AD system adapted to Hong Kong based on local traffic conditions in Hong Kong, including traffic rules, traffic signals and other factors. At the same time, through the privacy protection monitoring system, compliant monitoring of road time assists and supports the AD system to pass through complex intersections smoothly. This is also the first project in Hong Kong to implement the Transport Department's Autonomous Driving COP plan.
Hong Kong is a right-hand drive market, and the mainstream AD suppliers are concentrated in mainland China and the United States. There are certain difficulties in adapting to the local traffic environment in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Transport Department has launched an autonomous driving pilot program, and there needs to be a pioneer to explore the way.
Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under four Technology Divisions: Trust and AI Technologies; Communications Technologies; IoT Sensing and AI Technologies and Integrated Circuits and Systems. It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New-Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits and Metaverse.
