AD system localization – with HK traffic regulation and signal

Overview

ASTRI delivers an AD system adapted to Hong Kong based on local traffic conditions in Hong Kong, including traffic rules, traffic signals and other factors. At the same time, through the privacy protection monitoring system, compliant monitoring of road time assists and supports the AD system to pass through complex intersections smoothly. This is also the first project in Hong Kong to implement the Transport Department's Autonomous Driving COP plan.

Problem addressed

Hong Kong is a right-hand drive market, and the mainstream AD suppliers are concentrated in mainland China and the United States. There are certain difficulties in adapting to the local traffic environment in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Transport Department has launched an autonomous driving pilot program, and there needs to be a pioneer to explore the way.

Innovation
  • Adapt to Hong Kong traffic regulations and road representation T-junction with Hong Kong characteristics and Turn Waiting Area traffic logic.
  • Neural-like sensing technology at busy intersections enables privacy-preserving surveillance, meeting West Kowloon Cultural District’s compliance requirements.
Key impact
  • The Hong Kong Transport Department launched the first application project after the COP plan for autonomous driving, which served as a model for the subsequent improvement of regulations.
  • Privacy protection monitoring in West Kowloon protects customer privacy while achieving monitoring results.
Application
  • Operation of AIBus on public roads under the Hong Kong Autonomous Driving Pilot Scheme - COP.
  • Privacy-preserving monitoring
