Problem addressed

Current thermal insulation materials are heavy, bulky, and uncompressible. These types of materials are not functionalizable. On the other hand, commercial antimicrobial fabric treatments are not durable against multiple home laundry cycles.

Innovation
  • NAMI's NanoSponge materials can be incorporated into thermal insulation coating and fibrous materials to provide excellent insulation in a thin and durable form factor, compatible with existing commodities and industrial applications.
  • The tunable functionalities of the materials extend further applications in odor management and control, as well as antimicrobial treatment.
Key impact
  • Insulation performance 25% better than down when incorporated into synthetic insulation materials
  • Durable antimicrobial and deodorizing performance on fabric/garment at >99.9% up to 30 home laundry cycles
Application
  • Thermal insulation for winter apparel
  • Moisture and odor management fabric
  • Antimicrobial coating on fabric, garment and other substrates
