Overview

This project develops an innovative intelligent perception vest for school-aged children with ADHD, enabling behavioural intervention through integrated modules for signal acquisition, intelligent analysis, perception, and feedback. The vest supports state adjustment and emotional regulation, helping children maintain behaviour within a normal range.

Problem addressed

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects approximately 6%–8% of school aged children worldwide, creating significant challenges in both learning and social development. In Hong Kong, an estimated 70,000 children live with ADHD. This project aims to address these difficulties by developing innovative solutions that support behavioural regulation and enhance academic and social performance.

Innovation
  • When hyperactive movements are detected, the vest uses gentle vibrations to prompt children to self-regulate, enabling them to refocus in class. This allows teachers to concentrate fully on teaching without distractions.
Key impact
  • There is no similar healthcare textile product that identifies and treats children with ADHD from the perspective of behavioural intervention.
  • This project has significant commercialisation potential in developing high‑tech, smart healthcare textile products.

  • Bronze Medal in the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (2025)
Application
  • With the support of machine learning and information fusion technology, the vest can intelligently perceive and analyse the user’s behavioral data, providing appropriate feedback to alert the user when abnormal behavior occurs.
